Youth Red Cross Counselors told of the importance of Volunteerism

The youth wing of Orissa State Branch of Indian Red Cross Society imparted training to its untrained counselors in a special camp held from 12 to 14 December in its headquarters at Bhubaneswar

The program was inaugurated on December 12 by MLA Amar Prasad Satpathy in the presence of Director Higher Education Prof.(Dr.) Satyakam Mishra and Honorary Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Orissa State Branch Dr.Mangala Prasad Mohanty. Around 50 Youth Red Cross Counselors from 17 districts across Odisha participated.

During these three days training camp the counselors were imparted training on Disaster Preparedness and Disaster Risk Reduction, First Aid, Road safety, Blood Science, Motivation for organizing blood grouping and blood donation, HIV/AIDS, Youth leadership Volunteerism along with the history of Red Cross Movement, Development, Fundamental Principles of Youth Red Cross, etc.

in the y.rc eventThe Valedictory function of the training program was organized on December 14 in the Red Cross Bhavan, Bhubaneswar. Deputy Secretary of Higher Education department Dr.U.N.Sahoo, noted Journalist Mr.Prasanta Pattnaik joined as Guests of Honor.

Honorary Secretary, IRCS-OSB Dr.Mangala Prasad Mohanty, in welcoming the guests and participants, highlighted the vital role played by YRC Counselors’ on grooming the volunteers as good human beings. Dr. Sahoo stressed on the importance of volunteerism in the current society when Sri Pattnaik appreciated the activities of Youth Red Cross and advised the Counselors to motivate the volunteers to be dedicated and determined to serve the nation.

Dr. Sarita Supkar Youth Red Cross Officer coordinated the training program and thanked the guests and participates.
