Seldom has the entire world mourned a death. The world mourns for Mandela. The world is one in honoring his unique contributions to freedom from inhumanity.
But he is no more, they say. To us, he is not no more. He is a man forever.
As long as exploitation is not extinguished and plutocracy not exterminated, as long as caste and/or color supremacism is not completely wiped out, he shall continue to guide the world as beacon of militant action against apartheid and exploitation.
“Only through hardship, sacrifice and militant action”, he had said, “can freedom be won. The struggle is my life. I will continue fighting for freedom until the end of my days.” (ANC Press Release, June 26, 1961)
The fight is to continue. Mandela is to live despite his demise.
We bow to him as ever and forever.
