ORIYA BOY LONE WINNER OF NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP IN HINDUSTANI VIOLIN

Out of 382 National Scholarships awarded this year in different art streams by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, only one scholar has been selected for advanced studies in Hindustani Violin. And, he is Sri Laxmi Prasad Pattanayak of Tigiria residing at Bhubaneswar.

Sri Pattanayak is a Master of Music from the Utkal University of Culture. An alumnus of Utkal Sangit Mahavidyalaya, Bhubaneswar, he has his guide in Prof. Sunil Singh Mohanta.

Besides being a rising classical instrumentalist, Sri Pattanayak has enriched this site by contributing top rated photographs on many unnoticed aspects of Orissa’s socio-economic condition, environment and administration.

This coveted award comes to a musician of Orissa after a decade.
