I write because the peoples have the right to know. In these words Sri Subhas Chandra Pattanayak sums up his mission and position.

When a student, he had used his pen as the main weapon in his campaign against political misrule and bureaucratic malfeasances, in his birthplace of Tigiria by writing and publishing lithographed news-sheets styled as ‘Masal’, ‘Sata Katha’ and ‘Samachar’ produced, all by himself, with a hand-made pressure-plate. Now in senior age, he is using computer keyboard as his tool to foil plutocracy.
Incarcerated many times in public cause, he is the first person on records to have spotted transformation of India from democracy to plutocracy and has always stressed on equipping the people with information and ideas so that democracy may be revived. In this mission, he has abandoned a promising political life and adopted journalism as his real forte.

A renowned trade unionists amongst media persons, he had given leadership to Orissa Union of Journalists as its Secretary, National Union Of Journalists (India) as a special invitee to its National Executive and had founded the Forum of Freelance Journalists.

He has the penchant for amalgamating news with views in all his write-ups, aimed at assisting the society read between the lines.

Acclaimed as the first Web-Journalist to have ever been accredited to any Government in India, his funda of life, “On my mission unto the last”, is being reflected through Orissamatters.com. This site, he says, pertains to all that matters to the Oriyas of the world.
