Governance of Orissa in Oriya // OBSS-MC Next Meet on 12th

Bhubaneswar Bureau

There was reason to suspect that Orissa Government was drifting away from the declared official position in the matter of governance of Orissa in Oriya.

Your site immediately reacted to that unexpected action of the CM in the article captioned:

Oriya Language created Orissa and therefore Orissa must be ruled by Oriya Language”.

In the words of an esteemed reader it was hoped that, “it will open the eyes of our C.M.”

And, it did.

The government has amended its ways and has invited the Odisha Bhasa Sangram Samiti to a further meeting with the group of ministers scheduled to be held in the 2nd floor conference hall of the Secretariat on 12th at 4 pm.The single agenda for this meeting is “Review of steps taken for implementation of the Orissa Official Language Act, 1954”.

As the author of the draft amendment to the Act and the draft Rules, Sri Subhas Chandra Pattanayak has already met the Principal Secretary of Law for preparation thereof to be placed before the Assembly in the coming session for legislation. It is expected that there shall be no objection thereto by any member. Once the Law is amended to make the stale Act functionary, governance of Orissa in Oriya cannot but be a must.

When the next meeting of the Ministerial Committee is scheduled, it is relevant to watch what the Chairman of the Committeee Hon’ble Minister Debi Prasad Mishra had told on occasion of the last meeting.
