Orissa in Oriya: Exposed in Conversation the filthy faces of Bhasha Mafia

Bhubaneswar Bureau

Ex-Member of India’s Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Baisnab Charan Parida (BP) had a telephonic conversation with Bhasha Andolan Chief Subhas Chandra Pattanayak (SCP).

This conversation carries his observations on Dr. Debi Prasanna Pattanayak (DPP) and his team, which, in order to please the anti-Oriya elements in administration had derailed the Ministerial Committee formed on working of the Orissa Official Language Act, 1954.

BP, who was a member of the team of MPs that had submitted a memorandum to Government of India for declaration of Oriya as a Classical Language, has expressed profound happiness in this conversation over exposure of DPP by SCP in the matter of theft of the document produced by the State Government in support of its demand for Classical status to Oriya. It is shameful that DPP and his team are using obnoxious words to demoralize the leadership of Bhasha Andolan, BP has observed in this conversation. It also carries BP’s confirmation that it is SCP who had first located the legal lacuna in the Official Language Act and had submitted the draft of legislation to ensure punishment to whosoever contravenes the same with details of the process of punishment. BP expresses in this conversation how SCP has given the new idea, which, through the Black Flag Campaign of Bhasha Andolan has generated a hope for governance of Orissa in Oriya, a cause he claims to be espousing.

This conversation has, therefore, historic significance in matter of the movement for implementation of Orissa Official Language Act, particularly when BP is seen dancing to the tune of the anti-Oriya network by raising of late a demand for ‘Bhasha Ayoga’ (Language Commission) as against Bhasha Adalat (Language Court) provided for in the draft Rules published in the official website and being campaigned for by the Bhasha Andolan, Orissa.

Here is the audio record of the conversation:
