Orissa Society Of Canada will observe our Independence Day this year with a poster competition for children below 19 on the theme: Contribution of Orissa to the Freedom Movement of India. The purpose is to educate the children about Indian Independence Movement.
The celebrations will be held with a picnic conceived as Vande Mataram Picnic on August 20 at Wild Wood Park (Picnic Area A) in Mississauga (Malton). A special edition of Duradrusti, the e-mouthpiece of Odia Samaja (Odisa) , carrying English rendering of Adi Kavi Sarala Das by the famous Gopinath Mohanty in beautiful verses and many more letters of eminence is to hit the net on the occasion. It would be the second edition of third volume of Duradrusti. Mr. Ahimanikya Satapathy functions as its Editor with a Board comprising M/S Amit Kumar Mishra, Anil Panigrahi, Bikas Panda, Biswa R. Patnaik, Debasmita Mishra, Markandeswar Panda,and Satya Ranjan Dash.
This is the first time the Oriya Community in Canada is going to celebrate the Independence Day of India.
Ramesh Baral and Nanda Kumar Mallick will jointly coordinate the events. M/S. Harihar Behera, Sarbeswar Mohanta, Ashoka Mohanta, Santos Hota, Ramesh Baral, and Nanda Kumar Mallick are taking the lead.
