MEDICAL COLLEGE SHOULD PUBLISH DAILY BULLETINS ON THE EMPLOYEE’S HEALTH
Subhas Chandra Pattanayak
Ardhendu and Madhuri Sarangi, a couple in senior echelon of Indian Administrative Service in Orissa Cadre may not have ever occupied media headlines for any excellence in performance of official duties; but they have earned repeated media mention for wrongdoings / criminal activities in their official residence.
The latest instance is about an attempt to murder a low-paid Class IV employee in their house.
The employee, by name Ramesh Sethi, was allotted by the concerned authorities to Sarangis and they had engaged him to tend their residential garden in blatant contravention of administrative guidelines.
He was assaulted on the head.
First admitted into the Capital Hospital yesterday, he has been referred to Neurosurgery Department of the S.C.B.Medical College Hospital, Cuttack, where reportedly in a critical condition he has been placed in Bed No. 4 of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Even as Capital Police is keeping a melancholic mum over the matter, the Capital Hospital that has referred the case to the Medical College is shying at queries. The ICU, as expected, is not allowing interaction with the injured lowest rank employee.
Government has not preferred any Press note as yet.
If the employee is steeled in attempts to suppress revelation of the mens rea as well as of who from amongst the Sarangis assaulted him – under the climate of crime that has engulfed Orissa – that would not be anything very impossible to happen.
So, it is necessary that the medical college should publish daily health bulletins on Sethi till he is out of danger, real or apprehended.
