Media Unity for Freedeom of Press (MUFP) congratulates media persons in Rayagada for their bold protest against gross misbehaviour by policemen who tried to threaten and terrorise them while they were on duty to cover news. MUFP also thanks them for displaying remarkable unity and perseverance in defence of their freedom and dignity on Tuesday, 29 March 2011. They sat on the road for over 6 hours despite the soaring summer temperature and made sure that the district administration takes note of it and responds.
In a statement issued by MUFP, its Presidium mouthpiece Prasanta Patnaik has
expressed satisfaction over the fact that Mr Nitin Jawale, the Collector of Rayagada did intervene as soon as he was informed about it by the MUFP.
“We also thank Mr Anup Krishna, the SP of the district for reaching the spot of the protest and assuring our media friends of necessary measures to prevent occurrence of such incidents in future.
“The protest by our colleagues in Rayagada has proved yet again that the MUFP spirit has taken deep roots across the state and that is surely very good news”, he has said.
