Former Founder Director of Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore and Retd. Additional Secretary, Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India, Dr. Debi Prasanna Pattanayak, decorated with Civilian Award Padmashree, has been summoned to answer to charges under Sec. 501(b) of Indian Penal Code in the Court of S.D.J.M., Bhubaneswar on 30 August 2018.
He is accused No.4 in I.C.C. No. 4658 of 2017 wherein accused No. 1 is his close colleague Subrat Kumar Prusti. The other two accused persons are: Ramachandi Prasad Ranasingh and Deba Prasad Parija.
Complainant in the case is Subhas Chandra Pattanayak, journalist and founder of Bhasha Andolan, Orissa, which has been campaigning for governance of Orissa in Oriya language and correction of Orissa Official Language Act to make it a must.
In social media ‘Face Book’, Subrat Kumar Prusty had insulted the complainant with obnoxious words, which Ramachandi Pr. Ranasingh had spread in a page he has created and administers and Parija had supported.
On the other hand, Dr. Pattanayak had tried to defame the complainant in print media subjecting him to false allegations and baseless innuendos.
The case stands on these criminal acts of defamation. Advocate Dhruba Charan Mohanty is representing the complainant in this case.
