Viswa Varati’s Department of Oriya Literature hosted the birth centenary celebrations of ‘Utkal Sahitya Samaja’, on Dec.8, at the Indira Gandhi Center, Santiniketan. Dr. Krushna Chandra Bhuian inaugurating the event made a comparison of Rabindranath Tagore with Orissa’s Bhaktakavi Madhusudan and highlighted how similar thought process has enriched literature and culture in the two sister sates of Orissa and West Bengal.

With Dr. Ratnakar Chaini in chair, the gathering heard Prof. Baisnab Charan Samal and Dr. Bijayananda Singh. Dr. Manoranjan Pradhan, Dr. Ananda Chandra Sahu, Dr. Sabita Pradhan, Bhima Prusti, Arjun Das, Dr. Nagen Das, Gitanjali Panda, Elina Padhi, Bagmee Biswal and Santosh Sahu contributed to the success of the celebrations.
