Chief Information Commission D.N.Padhi, who left IAS in last leg to grab the post of Chief Information Commission of Orissa has embarrassed the State by projecting himself in the media as the best amongst the Country’s CICs when in fact the source cited vehemently rejects this claim.
A combine of Orissa’s RTI activists has in a memorandum to the Governor demanded for action against Padhi under Section 17 of RTI Act, 2005, even as Public Cause Research Foundation (PCRF), the organization on whose survey the Orissa Information Commission has claimed Padhi to have topped the ranking has published a clarification in its website that no such determination has yet been made.
IAS officers of Orissa cadre are generally marked for their eagerness to grab prize posts that would give them power, pay package and luxury in their post retirement days. Padhi’s emergence as CIC, Orissa may be cited as an instance. But rash projection of self as the best in the lot using the name of any private organization is not always the case with every ex-IAS officer.
It is more intriguing that when the propaganda of Padhi topping the ranking amongst CICs published in Orissa media was found to have flowed from a press release by Orissa Information Commission, RTI activists having objected to it on basis of their inquiry with PCRF, the said press release has been deleted from the site. Copy of the site’s concerned page shows that the Press Release No.1 is wiped out.
Shouldn’t the Information Commission come forward with the correct information?
