Repeal Sec 4A of Official Language Act in a specially convened Assemby: Bhasha Andolan at Puri

Summon a special session of the Assembly and repeal Section 4-A of Odisha Official Language Act and bring in provisions for punishment for its contravention, asked the founder of Bhasha Andolan Subhas Chandra Pattanayak to the Government in public at Puri on Monday. The demand was made against the backdrop of closure of the Assembly session immediately after a Bill to amend the Official Language Act was submitted with the statutory Notice by CPI (M) member Sri Laxman Munda, which was in consonance with the demand of Bhasha Andolan.

Mass Communication practitioner Soumyaranjan Nayak captured live the Black Flag Campaign of Bhasha Andolan, as it proceeded to submit a Memorandum to the Chief Minister, Orissa, through the District Collector.

Members of the Andolan Presidium – Kamal Lochan Nayak, Subhas Chandra Pradhan and Girijakant Mishra led the campaign, first of its kind in the holy city.

Besides Sri Pattanayak, central leaders – Kamal Lochan Nayak, Subhas Chandra Pradhan and Girijakant Mishra and district leaders – Bibudhendra Bidyadhar and Mrutyunjay Tripathy elaborately answeredd the points raised by the live reporter.

In the presence of Sri Pattanayak and members of the Presidium, leaders of the undivided Puri district Bhasha Andolan, comprising Bibudhendra Bidyadhar, Mrutyunjay Tripathy,Govind Chandra Mohanty,Nilakantha Behera, Narendra Sahu, Shubhashish Pattanayak, Sanjay Kumar Sahu,Jiten Kumar Raut, Ashis Kumar Behera,Sisir Kumar Sahu,Asis Kumar Sahu,Rabinarayan Mishra,Prabir Deo,Kunimani Deo,and Achyutanand Patel submitted the Memorandum.
